Mission
It’s no secret: American food culture stinks.
Our meat-ridden over-processed genetically modified pesticide-soaked paradigm decimates our nation’s health, and devastates our natural resources. US food policy serves the goals of global mega corporations, not the health and well-being of the people who have to eat here. Food manufacturers rely on secrecy, deception, and institutionalized animal cruelty to trick consumers into acting against their own interests and values. Big agribusiness takes what it wants from workers, farmers, and legislators, with virtually no accountability to anyone downstream. Our food system is deeply broken, wildly unsustainable, and running roughshod over the public it’s charged with feeding.
We say, ‘Enough!’
What we put on our plate — and in our shopping carts — has more power to change the world than any other single daily choice we make. Yet most Americans put less thought into what goes into their mouths than what kind of toilet paper to buy.
Once we’re up and running, Progressive Kitch will bring you lively debate and discussion on everything you need to know to make your food dollar count. For health, for environmental responsibility, for corporate accountability and functional food policy — and for living a life in which your actions reflect your values of compassion and nonviolence — revolution begins at home.
Our goal is to bring discussion, debate, interviews, vegan cooking adventures, and general progressive-kitchen revelry to your table, towards the goal of changing the world for the better.
Viva la (food) revolucion!
